Unfortunately this old fashioned combined sewer underground storage tank does not "prevent" raw untreated sanitary sewage from overflowing directly into adjacent Alum Creek natural waterway, when storage capacity exceeds 857k gallons. Major rainfalls produce excessive storm waters into Columbus archaic combined sewer pipes. Blueprint Columbus is updating systemwide to become compliant with the US Clean Water Act and per EPA's consent decree.
